Both are perfect for friends, both you can plss off the cops.one is just more on open world exploration/racing while the other is Open world/destroy everything/make it rain/now first person prostitution xD. The crew has a waaaaaay bigger map that spans the whole united states with terrain whether etc, as well as you can most likely find your dream car, buy it, and custimize it closer to however you want.while in gta online there is only limited whether and you only get snow/cold climates durring winter events like xmas etc, plus the cars are simply based off of actual cars and't arent exact, plus more limited car count. GTA Online (can't really compare gta V offline to the crew since the crew is an online game) allows you to not only race, but other amazing stuff, mainly cause carnage.
